In a striking fusion of cinematic texture and rhythmic storytelling, the new music video for Yin Yin’s “In Search of Yang” explores the profound connection between human movement and the search for a soulmate. Directed by Sharif Abd el Mawla and produced by Bonkers United in partnership with new-land, the film eschews conventional dialogue to let the language of the body take center stage.

The protagonist is Sam Spruell (Fargo, The Hurt Locker), who portrays an outsider navigating a world of isolation until he finds his counterpart. Alongside Pristina-based actress Erza Sejdiu, the duo delivers a performance defined by choreography rather than explanation, grounding the abstract concepts of the track in physical expression.

The visual identity of the project is deeply rooted in its location. Captured by Director of Photography Daan Bukman, the film was shot in the gritty, evocative streets of Pristina and inside the brutalist corridors of the iconic Grand Hotel in Kosovo. This atmospheric backdrop, serviced by Horizon-T, provides a stark contrast to the fluid, high-fashion sensibilities brought by designer Jose Tirado and choreographer Mès Lesne.

Though the production spanned multiple locations—with the band’s own performance captured at Muziekgieterij in Maastricht, the core narrative was realized in a single, intensive day of shooting. This efficiency speaks to the synergy between Abd el Mawla and his long-time collaborators, who have successfully synthesized place, rhythm, and performance into a singular search for “Yang”. The result is a visual world that feels both grounded in reality and elevated by the transformative power of music.
