Sam Youkilis (b. 1993) is a photographer born and raised in New York City. He earned his BFA in photography from Bard College in 2016. He is currently living and working in Mexico City.

“My photos are taken from the world and reduce the subject and the landscape to formal elements of geometry and color,” says Sam Youkilis, a photographer born in New York.
Sam’s most recent work was done on the journey from Northern Colombia to Buenos Aires. Having bought a one-way ticket to Bogota, he spent the summer traveling the Argentine capital by bus, a journey that lasted just under 90 days. It is this innate curiosity and wants to see the world that infuses Sam’s photographs with so much energy. Far from presenting the well-known trophies of travel photography, however, Sam has developed a sharp eye for form, shape and color that moves subjects away from any perceptible settings. His images, taken in Barcelona, Coney Island or Budapest, lose their relationship with any particular place, presenting the idiosyncratic vision of the world of Sam.
