Robin Cassiau, a young french artist born in Normandy, presents authentic travel diaries through his photographic work. A quiet observer, he steps back to capture people passing by, unfolding landscapes, and urban movements. We notice the recurrence of lonely individuals, isolated in space and captured from unique angles, which creates a sense of wandering and ghostlike effect in his photographs.

The intensity of the relationship he has with the world is portrayed through the distance he keeps from his subject. His approach is based on a subtle oscillation between presence and absence, where he captures the mood of his environment at any odd moment as he wanders the streets.

About ‘Shadows journey’:

Robin Cassiau is presenting a series of photographies taken in Montreal last summer 2016. Outside, on the pavement, on their way or sitting at a café, he shots some instants of furtive life where summer has been bringing the town back to life.

Citizens, moving around between shadows and lights spaces like performers moving in and out of a spotlight. They appear alternately in a moment of isolation, detached from the passing crowd and urban movements. Suddenly, the look is hooked, we follow only them
These street photographs, gathered together, create a polyphonic travel diary where the juxtaposition of the scenery, the character and a compilation of details weaved together like a network of micro event.
