C41 Magazine, in collaboration with LABottega and OLDER Studio, presents Considera / Desidera, a solo show by artist Lucrezia Costa at The Gallery/LAB in Marina di Pietrasanta. The opening reception is from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on May 25th, 2024.

The exhibition presents a series of sculptural works created during the residency held by the artist at La Stellata, a farm in the Versilia hills. The slow residence immersed in nature and the surrounding area allowed the artist to investigate the relationship between human beings and the night sky, its changes, and the stars, which are not always visible.

“Considering the stars has to do with all the events that are beyond our control, it represents that subtle and mysterious line of destiny that clearly bypasses our will and free will,” the artist describes. And it is in the moment of absence of the stars, present but absent to the human gaze, that the human being turns to themselves. Similarly, the artist has allowed herself to be led by the phrase “Everything I still don’t know’, an affirmation and at the same time a research question, which led her through the modelling of clay and the action of engraving reflective plates, to transpose her thoughts into acts and exercises of relating with the uncontrollable in the form of matter.

The metaphorical and fragmentary visual cartography resulting from the project is rendered as an intellectual and artistic journey in the space of The Gallery/LAB and in the form of a publication realised by the artist with the support of LABottega: a diary, an archive of working documents work, an epistle open to multiple responses.

The exhibition is curated by Ilaria Sponda for C41 Magazine in close collaboration with the artist and LABottega. We thank OLDER Studio, technical partner of the residency.
The exhibition will be open until 15 June from Friday to Sunday from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and from 16 June to 30 July every day except Tuesdays from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
