Olimpia Piccolo is a 22 years-old Italo-American photographer, currently based in Rome. Her photography combines fine art and fashion to the documentary world to create a unique, but truthful narrative. Her ability to pick out curious quirks in day-to-day life through her lens is what makes her work outstanding. Her practise isn’t only characterised by one approach, thus she captures fast snapshots when wandering around the city, but also sees the camera as a media useful for reflection, while she carefully creates her own compositions.
About ‘All Good and Very Happy’ – words by Olimpia Piccolo:
Leaving Italy and moving to England for my studies started the first chapter of my adult life: wonderful, adventurous, full of surprises, new encounters and most of all, the beginning of a new direction. The person who most intensely lived this transition was my mother. This series documents how her and I responded to this change and the rollercoaster of emotions we both faced. In order to fully capture our strong and complex relationship, All Good and Very Happy was documented throughout the course of a year, using a range of staged and natural portraits, self-portraits and still lifes.
