This is an unpublished project premiered today on C41 Magazine.
Nils Böddingmeier is a photographer based in both Freiburg and Berlin. During his school studies in forestry science, photography was his creative outlet. From 2020, he’s deepening his knowledge and passion at Ostkreuzschule for photography in Berlin.
With a focus on portraiture and reportage, his goal is to tell stories of people. Inspired by surreal painters and photographers, he seeks magical, forgotten, or overlooked realities. Böddingmeier is driven by his curiosity in the diversity of human life. By trying to understand the lives of the people he captures, his aim is to tell their story free of judgments. Through the tool of identification, he portrays the person behind each story in order to stimulate a sort of compassion in the viewer.
About ‘Landluft’ – words by Nils Böddingmeier:
“Landluft”, which translates loosely to the smell of the countryside, portraits the summer of 2020 as my girlfriend and I experienced it. Uncertain about traveling due to Corona we made ourselves comfortable at home. Leaving the city behind to move to a tiny village was kind of an experiment that we started three years ago. This year it became our favorite resort.
