Questions On is the video interview format created by C41. Three “simple” questions that we asked the young protagonists of the film Slow Dance, Fast Wheels, a true story by C41 for adidas Originals.

The second episode is with Melat, a young woman who dreams of becoming a singer. Melat is a who lives in her own world of art and music, expressing her self freely.

You can watch it on the C41 YouTube channel and also read it below.

How important is connection to you in this historical period? You can talk to us about connection in technological terms or in terms of interpersonal relationships. How has your way of connecting to people changed? What happened in MC (Milano Centrale), what happens in the squares where you meet, where do you skate?

Connection is the most powerful tool we have today and it allows us infinite freedoms. At this point it is essential to distinguish which are the faults of the instrument with those which are the faults of those who use the instrument, therefore the faults of the connection from those that are actually the faults of the people who use the connection negatively, in a wrong way. All these mechanisms that have come to form and are growing exponentially of fake news and so on, are all mechanisms due to use of the connection, they are not due to the connection itself  because in reality there are many advantages that the connection brings us and that seems to have passed into the background or taken for granted and now this superficial sphere prevails. Paradoxically, young people, who are the most connected, are actually in my opinion the most distant ones because all this connection is actually leading to a deterioration of what are real relationships and everything is limited to a more superficial sphere of the image. I feel more connected when I’m disconnected and luckily there are realities like MC that fully reflects my character, the fact of being there and that’s it when you are there you live that moment and you don’t need to use the phone except to listen. music or to film something, to take a picture but you don’t need that further connection because you are there with those people, at that moment and more. I think that MC is really special because he can have any kind of connection, with the most people disparate and different in the world and nobody worries about anything, so it’s like that connection you can have with devices but in person and with like-minded guys.

Milan is an incredible city and even in this difficult time it tries to react with all the creativity that distinguishes it. What do you think of the city that hosts you? Would you like to live elsewhere? And why?

In my opinion, Milan is a beautiful city and has so much to offer and I am very attached to it, but it also has many negative sides such as the greyness, the frenzy of people, the distance between people, etc. I still don’t know if I will live here when I grow up but my dream is to be a citizen of the world rather than just one country.

Are we all running in search of balance, of a slower life? Do you consider yourself a person fit to run or a more thoughtful person?

I am an extremely calm and thoughtful person, and this fits a lot with the present where everything is going faster and faster and all these things that do not belong to me at all and make me feel totally out of place
