Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1984 Martin Gelerstein is a director, photographer and artist. Passionate about music, literature, painting and their relationship with time and memory, became a Filmmaker, and has worked in fiction feature films, advertisement and fashion. On 2017 starts working on his own, focusing on personal projects in photography and creative/artistic consulting.
About ‘HYPERCHROMA‘:
Hyperchroma is a series in which I set out to the streets in order to study the inalienable relationship of color and form reacting in the spectrum of natural light, and how shadows expressed themselves punctuating the image, providing a sort of internal montage to a single frame, assembling a “fiction”.
But along the way I was faced with an incontrovertible truth: conflict and pressure exist deeply rooted in the realm of the streets, and this delivered a new internal rhythm to the image: The sense of unease, always provided by reality, igniting itself within the boundaries of the frame, reminding us of the accidental and terrifying beauty we’re all immersed in.
Hyperchroma is the search to arrest color with the camera, as a means to protect it from an ever-increasing bleaching world.
