Mark Melchior is a professional photographer with a background in creative production that is currently based in New York City. He typically works on commercial portrait, lifestyle, and food/beverage shoots. Born into a creative blue collar family, Mark is the youngest of 4 children and is well traveled in the US. Raised in Philadelphia, molded by Los Angeles, and now developing roots in NYC, Mark plans to continue using photography as a way to explore and discover new characters.
About ‘Coast to Coast‘:
People usually give me a crazy look when I tell them I’ve driven across the US 5 different times. It’s the type of thing a lot of people maybe think of doing once in a lifetime. I’ve always felt more at home when in motion, and I think living all over the place in the last few years has encouraged that. This project is a collection of the characters and scenery I’ve gotten close to across this country. In our current political climate I think a lot of us get stuck in our bubble and don’t realize how much we have to explore in our own backyard.
The photos here span the continental US including California, Colorado, Tennessee, New York, and more. Many of them coming from ‘off the trail’ areas with limited or restricted access. If nothing else, I’d hope that these pictures inspire thoughts of adventure, freedom, and encourage folks to ask themselves if they’ve really gotten to know what, or who, is in their own backyard?
