Marco Arguello is a self-taught photographer born and raised in McAllen, TX to Paraguayan parents. In 2015, his series Tungsten Beach was published in various online blogs and publications such as Its Nice That and Fast Company which led to the beginning of his freelance career. His past clients include Art Basel, Lexus International, United Airlines, Wall Street Journal Magazine, and Porter Airlines. He has lived in Austin, Miami, and currently lives in Athens, Greece.
His approach to analogical photography began with the research for a stylistic dimension and to carry on his visual research. He likes to capture vivid colors, situations, and very kitsch subjects and portraits through a very direct approach.
About ‘Chroma’ – words by Alice De Santis:
It is paradoxical, or rather all this seems absurd and impossible for us. It is as if we feel part of an apocalyptic film where we, for the first time, are the protagonists. We have changed, we have re-evaluated our priorities and our interests, no doubt, but there is one thing about the old life that continues to be missing, the sea, the holidays, being tourists for a few days.
We miss being able to take a last-minute train and then find ourselves with our feet immersed in the icy seawater, we miss feeling the heat of the sun on the skin which is then relieved by the waves of the ocean. We certainly miss being able to fly, the great dream of the human being. We miss leaving with friends and having those silly holidays where you can buy souvenirs for the family and go around in a shirt with the name of a city written on it. We have undoubtedly changed our lives but remain beings who go in constant search for a freedom that has now been denied us. Of course, we can travel through the mind and fantasy, dreams, or even just looking out of a window, but the feeling of being able to immerse yourself in the immense sea, the sea that washes away every thought, is certainly unparalleled.
