Hi Larissa, goals are made to be met and exceeded. How would you describe your relationship with records?
I would say that I love breaking them. Records on the other hand are made to be broken. They are goals and I always try my best to improve the ones that are already mine and maybe even those of others. I see them as goals: I always do my best to try to beat my own and others’ records. On the other hand, my motto is: “the best is yet to come”.
How do you prepare for competitions? Tell us about what goes on besides training. Do you have a good luck item like Michael Jordan had his shorts?
My coach and I always joke because I call myself an energy efficient athlete, I always take a pre-race nap or otherwise try to get as much sleep as possible. Half an hour before warm-up, a coffee and go. During the race, between jumps, I do the same thing: I try to isolate myself and clear my mind, unplug. To be ready again just a moment before going out on the plate.
A lucy piece? Yes, but I prefer not to say which one it is…for superstition.
What about fashion? Do you prefer a comfortable outfit or something rather elegant and complex?
Regarding fashion, I would define my style romantic and at the same time a little bit rock. I love original and unconventional details. I always pay attention to the accessory, whether it’s a bag or a belt or the shoes… especially bags, they are my favourite objects. I love what is sophisticated with an unexpected touch.
You have been collaborating with Valentino for the Inspired by project. How did it felt? Can you share a little insight?
The collaboration with REDValentino was my first structured experience in the fashion world, a dream that came true. I feel perfectly in line with the brand and I match their values. Refined femininity and originality are also my daily mantra. The looks I wore are all fantastic, characterized by a romantic spirit like mine, combined with unusual details that I would define as slightly ‘rock’.
Insight: the shooting took place on January 2nd at the Ridolfi Stadium in Florence. We used the indoor gym for the costume changes. Without heating… It was freezing cold and the girls of the team covered me with layers during the new fittings, warming me up with a hair dryer!
