Originally the fountains had a purely functional purpose, being very important and widespread in the inhabited areas before the running water was available in the individual houses, while now they are gradually disappearing.Other use as a point of access to water, the fountains are used as an ornamental and artistic architectural and urbanistic element, also of monumental type: examples are the fountains decorated with statues or illegiadrite and made more spectacular and scenographic with imaginative water games.

In Max Siedentopf’s project every object can become a fountain, every object full of liquid can produce splashes and waterfalls creating an incredibly innovative and original scenographic effect.
