Genos is a group of creatives working in design. Genos is a collective of Monads, in short, single units that have been part of Genos’ formation and development. Genos’ Monads are faceless and plurally speak as one collective voice. Genos’ plurality of voices is reflected in the heterogeneity of its objects that inhabit spaces: every creation is different from the other, part of an ever-changing and dynamic identity. Genos doesn’t believe in a consistency of aesthetics, but in one that is disparate and supportive; one that considers each particular observation of the world; one that breaks schemes, in between the old and the new; one that is informed by a variety of contemporary expressions and street culture. Genos’ products are entirely Made in Italy, giving a new and long-lasting shape to the highest quality of materials, and its visual identity has been developed by the graphic design Studio Temp.

Today marks Genos’ first birthday and they launch Edition One, a series reflecting on youth’s critical and unheard presence, a multiple individuality, and acceptance. Its items have been designed without precise criteria; they all reflect and share a commentary on contemporary society. They speak about all matters, but design. Genos believes that what’s significant in design is not being particularly “surprising” or “cool”; what’s significant is how design is interpreted and experienced.

Edition One was born out of Genos’ observation of the world, human attitudes and habits, the social issues that permeate daily life, and the decision to do something within it: the series serves as an encouragement and invitation to partake in Genos’ creative movement. Every item of Edition One is a unique piece, entirely produced in Italy and the result of extended research, tests, and trials. Genos’ production methods are complex and curious in understanding how materials react to each other.

Edition One is unveiled in Milan with Genos Parking Installation, a site-specific installation at Spazio Fonte (via dei Fontanili, 13). Open to the public from September 12 to September 14, 2023 between 9AM and 6PM.

Genos is a new collective practice operating in design. They are a group of creatives giving life to high-end objects that inhabit spaces. Their plurality of voices is reflected in the heterogeneity of the products they conceive: every creation is different from the other, part of an ever-changing and dynamic identity. Genos doesn’t believe in a consistency of aesthetic, but in one that is disparate and supportive; one that considers each of them’s particular observations of the world; one that breaks schemes, in between the old and the new; one that is informed by a variety of contemporary expressions and street culture. Their products are entirely Made in Italy, giving a new and long-lasting shape to the highest quality of materials. Genos is a species, a lineage, a generation, a tribe. They are individuals who belong and believe in the fragmentation of the present day; they are not single voices, but a concept; we don’t believe in self-centredness, but in the power of being disparate parts of the same context. They value trust, participation, and co-creation, striving for a romantic feeling of belonging. With their multiplicity, they give voice to the decentralisation of our time.
