Eva Donckers (°1991) is a photographer based in Antwerp (BE) and received her masters degree of visual arts in 2016 at LUCA School of Arts in Brussels (BE). She exhibited in different exhibitions and works as a freelance photographer for various magazines. Typically, her images capture the qualities of natural light, as well as the unique or idiosyncratic traces of human interaction in a particular place. She usually takes encounters with (un)known people and places as a starting point for her work.

About La lune se trouve dans le sachet’ – words by Eva Donckers:

A few years ago she got fascinated by different spiritual communities and encounters, which she visited and joined in some countries, such as France, Netherlands, Poland, USA and her home country Belgium. During these travels, she collected personal stories and focused her camera onto the surrounding areas, as well as portraits. She noticed all of the spiritual experiences told, became elusive stories, something beyond space and time. It became a research for her how to put these into words and capture them on film. With this interest, she went on an artist residency in Saint-Louis (SN) last year. There, she met Idy, a local storyteller and together they collected small tales coming from the streets, influenced by spirits. Inspired by these stories, she captured her surroundings in Saint-Louis with a medium format camera. Now, the texts and the images interact with each other, not in a specific order, but mixed like tarot cards.
