About ‘The Swimmers’:
The Swimmers capture the Aqualillies of Los Angeles while they perform their choreographies, their routines, while they are lulled by moments of rest and those of play.
Using color and black and white photography, Hartvig presents a series of images that emulate a bygone era, enhanced by the group’s retro swimwear.
Through his work he celebrates the unity, the strength and the elegance of the performance, showing a perspective, usually hidden, of their elegant underwater practice.
