At Matter & Shape 2026, De Troupe unveils EDITION No. 1, the first collection presented under its new name, marking a deliberate evolution of the studio’s identity  . More than a nominal shift, this moment signals a renewed clarity of vision—an international outlook grounded in precision, cultural continuity, and material integrity.

Founded by Gabriel Abraham in 2013, with roots between Los Angeles and New York, De Troupe has consistently operated within a research-driven practice that weaves together design, architecture, and visual culture  . With EDITION No. 1, that interdisciplinary approach becomes more distilled. The collection does not pursue spectacle; instead, it proposes a composed and cinematic language, subtle yet exacting, where atmosphere is constructed through restraint.

Drawing from the lines of French Art Déco, reinterpreted through a modernist lens  , the collection features seating in black and cream lacquered wood upholstered in refined Dedar fabrics, alongside hand-carved alabaster lighting set within sculptural brass armatures  . The dialogue between solid lacquered surfaces and the soft translucency of alabaster creates a spatial rhythm that feels both grounded and luminous. These are not objects conceived as isolated statements, but as quiet architectures—forms that structure space through proportion, balance, and light  .

Central to the project is process. Developed in collaboration with Italian master artisans whose expertise spans generations  , EDITION No. 1 foregrounds craftsmanship as a principle of clarity rather than ornament. Materials are approached with intention and respect, allowing their intrinsic qualities to inform structure and finish  . Brass supports without dominating, alabaster diffuses light with natural irregularity, and lacquered wood retains tactile depth. The emphasis is on permanence and coherence, not excess.

Among the pieces previewed in Paris is a new table lamp created in collaboration with the Milan-based studio studioutte  , extending the conversation between craft, architecture, and contemporary design culture. Presented from March 6 to 9, 2026 at the Jardin des Tuileries  , the collection affirms De Troupe’s evolving stance within contemporary design: one where objects inhabit space with calm authority, forging a silent dialogue between tradition and modernity, image and structure, light and matter.
