About ‘Sisters’:
Sisters is an on-going series of portraits documenting the trajectory of my two young nieces, 13-year-old Marni-Lee and Amelia, 11. Individual shoots are inspired by my own memories of childhood and adolescence. Embedded within the photographs you’ll find a number of homages to the girls I grew up with: baggy denim, patches, initial necklaces, football tees and scrunchies, appropriated to create a thoroughly contemporary reigning of age-old fashion trends.
Shot between by my hometown, Birkenhead and the seaside resort of New Brighton, the series imbues the real, ever-changeable emotions which characterize growing up: sniggers, scowls, and everything in between.
