Cátia Biscaia (Leiria, Portugal, 1983) is graduated in Media, and post-graduated in Film and Multimedia.

Her relationship with photography begins in 2008, featuring a contemporary landscape and conceptual photography work – nationally and internationally awarded – which seeks to invoke the untouched landscape and the one transformed by man, although, usually, without his presence.

As for commissioned work she usually covers editorial, product, industry and portrait photography.

About ‘Man made’:

The human hand reconfigures nature in different degrees and shapes, changing the landscape.
This fact evokes some anthropological questions. Human beings usually use their body as a tool to achieve a kind of intimacy with the world.

Is this inner desire to recreate nature an aspiration to change virgin nature into a man? Or does a human being live or use a place without building something to suit his / her needs?

And how do you relate to the world? How do you get in touch with nature?
