Months before diplomatic ties were restored between Cuba and the US, I accompanied a small group through Canada onto the island. It was like a daydream meets post-nap disorientation. Struggling to communicate through words, I wove between the technicolor commotion and the shelter of shade, led by the thread of perpetual humidity.
