For the first time, BiM–where Bicocca meets Milan, the urban regeneration project and new cultural heart of the Bicocca district–is hosting a stage of BookCity Milano, the celebrated event dedicated to books and reading that every year populates the city with meetings with experts in the field such as international and first-time writers, cartoonists, graphic designers, illustrators, journalists, poets, and publishers.

Opening the BiM event on Thursday, Nov. 16, is the presentation of the highly anticipated first book by The Milaneser, the widespread project that brings together dozens of artists to tell the story of Milan through the covers of a magazine that does not exist. The City We Are Becoming is the title of the first choral volume of looks and stories dedicated to the city of Milan, which collects 137 images and contains unpublished contributions by Chiara Alessi, Gianni Biondillo, Giovanna Castiglioni, Luca Misculin, and Davide Oldani.

Lara Aldeghi and Stefano Joker Lionetti of Zetalab, creators of The Milaneser, will explore the theme of the evolution and change of the city and its places, in dialogue with Tommaso Caldera, independent Designer and Art Director. The meeting will be hosted within the C41 Gallery exhibition space in BiM (on the first floor) set up with large-scale reproduction of the four illustration works of the different covers of the upcoming book. The exhibit will remain on view free of charge from Nov. 16 to Nov. 24 (entrance from Viale dell’Innovazione 3, Milan).

C41 Bookshop–curated in collaboration with Reading Room–presents the preview of the book by The Milaneser, C41 Magazine issue 14 out on November 15th, and Fermacampione issue 8, in addition to a selection of independent magazines from around the world.
