Argento liquido explores and deconstructs the concept of bodily freedom, confronting conventional norms and representations and proposing alternative aesthetics and social conventions. This project, shot by Chiara Gianforte and styled by Augusta Carter, is set in a context that considers the human body as a fluid and dynamic entity, constantly evolving.
Argento liquido stems from a critical reflection of contemporary theories on identity and sexuality. Drawing from Susan Bordo’s reflections in Unbearable Weight (1993), the narrative builds on how the body is intrinsically linked to cultural and social norms while acting as a space of resistance and renewal. Furthermore, Judith Butler’s theories on the performativity of the body (Butler, 1990) are recalled, suggesting that bodily identity is a performative construction rather than a stable ontological reality. Argento Liquido stands as a reflection on the body’s capacity to express and rewrite predefined social norms through sexual freedom and the pursuit of pleasure.
