I was born in the northern part of Germany. In my photographic works, I investigate different aspects of human living space in the beginning of our 21st century. Especially in the urban cityscapes, I find conflict areas that influence my images: conflicts of functionalism and individual development, the association with nature, the concourse of construction and vastness and, last but not least, to human interaction.
I currently live and work on the beautiful island Bornholm in Denmark.
About ‘Geography of Nowhere’:
Lass converts her personal impression of the US-American living space into a panopticon of absent self-situatedness. It is the absence of any reference to place and the randomness of shown locations that conduct her to the paradox title Geography of Nowhere. In Lass’s geography, viewers often sense a misanthropic and cold atmosphere, caused by the dictate of ever-repeating functional arrangements in the landscape.
Especially in the urban cityscapes, she finds conflict areas that influence her images: conflicts of functionalism and individual development, the association with nature, the concourse of construction and vastness and, last but not least, human interaction. The works are photographed in 2006-07
