GREBNELLAW is the cosmic seed sown in early spring that brings to life new beings, forms, plants, animals, and humans. It’s an ongoing creative process that uses pop music, visual art and performative elements to address contemporary issues. It also acts as a liberating force from social pressure and prejudice with ad-hoc performances that happen in the moment. The performances are site-specific, uses the “three-minute-pop song” format and a red and white color code to communicate an easily recognizable style.
Already appeared in our Issue 5 “Tomorrow” today she tells us something more about her life and her grandiose projects.
What are you doing at this moment in your life?
Right now I am preparing visuals and music for a concert in Stockholm where actually Cicciolina will also be performing. I think it will be very exciting to meet this one of a kind icon in person. We need more people like her in this world.
What future projects do you have in mind?
In a world facing potential climate disasters, I am working on a narrative about the hedonistic Grebnellaws from the realms of the subatomic. They arrive to Planet Earth following wave emissions from a dying radio in a landfill. They carry with them a cosmic seed, that when sown under the right circumstances, has the power to reset Planet Earth to zero. The question they ask themselves after traveling around the globe is whether Humans deserve it or not? In performative processes they try to get to know and understand Humans and their contradictions and see if it’s possible to upgrade their consciousness.
How has your art changed over the years?
My first artistic explorations started with the camera. I am still a photographer even if I produce a song or prepare a Flash Mob. I am always looking to snap a photo or staging a picture. I think this world I am creating is there to be photographed.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Many things inspire me but in the end I think perhaps science is my favorite source of inspiration.
What is your favorite drink?
Formula Seven – it’s one of the energy drinks that pump up the Grebnellaws. They also drink a lot of it before going on stage so they can dance til the sun rises.
