Sole Satana (1989) is a documentary and fine art photographer based in Murcia, Spain. She studied Audiovisual Image (2009-2011) and Artistic Photography (2011-2012). Satana’s work has been published in various online publications including the British Journal of Photography, Der Greif, and It’s Nice That. She recently made her first exhibition called “Paréntesis” together with JD Valiente at Centro Párraga (Murcia), within the “Radar” cycle curated by the collective underphoto. Satana’s photos are closely related to her personal life and interests. Most of them tell the story of her life experiences and her surroundings. Her work is focused on reclaiming the aesthetics of the ugliness, the bad taste, the bizarre, the decadence. She is interested in documenting society, traditions and events, but always under a subjective point of view and taking it to her field, trying to convey her sensations and the atmosphere more than the fact itself.
José David Valiente (1986) is a documentary and fine art photographer based in Murcia, Spain. He studied Audiovisual Image and then continued with Artistic Photography. Valiente’s work has been featured in various online publications including British Journal of Photography, Fisheye Magazine, Aint-Bad and Der Greif. José is powerfully drawn to decadence, marginals, bizarre, wild and mystery. His work is very personal. It reflects the environment around him and he makes use of its elements to portray himself.
“In 2013, due to financial reasons, we were forced to return ‘home’. We parked our studies and returned to a city where we didn’t want to be, to live in a place that we never actually considered home. As time went by, the discomfort increased, causing us feelings of discouragement, emptiness, oppression, apathy and impotence that led us both to suffer anxiety and depression. “Paréntesis” was born as a result of these circumstances, the fusion of two individual series on the same stage of our life. As a visual diary, we use our environment to represent our feelings, our own life experience. A decadent, raw, solitary and mysterious journey.”
